Hope to see a good crowd tonight . . . dispite the snow expected. Everything's set up and ready. The sound will probably be the best yet . . . due to the combined efforts and equipment . . .
We are really looking forward to our Dec. 15th show at the Tweedsmuir, and to showcase some new material featuring newly joined member Les Slimmons. I feel that his input will shine through, as well as some songs featuring the keyboard . . . nice touch. Hope to see everyone there!
We must say good-bye to a great drummer. Marcel is leaving us to pursueopportunities with THC ("To Have Control"). We wish him the best of luck. Groundspeed has come a long way and played a lot of tunes that would be likely impossible with anyone else. We appreciate all your hard work.
It's Fall, and that means Winter is around the corner. We're going to heat things up at the Tweedsmuir Tavern (Tweed, On.) this Saturday night, and look forward to bringing a smile to everyone's face. We sure love what we do . . .
The first band I was in was pretty bad. Not a bad sound really . . . just no real direction. We probably did about 5 covers, the rest being instrumental originals which would change each time we played them. It was a blast. I played the bass. I later took up guitar, played/jammed for 10 years or so with various musicians - played in this original band called Monkeyhouse - great potential, but we pretty much sucked - wrote some great songs though. It really is about the music . . .
Stuck inside these four walls, sent inside forever,Never seeing no one nice again like you,Mama you, mama you.
If I ever get out of here,Thought of giving it all away To a registered charity. All I need is a pint a day If I ever get out of here. (If we ever get outta here)
Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash As we fell into the sun, And the first one said to the second one there I Hope you're having fun. Band On The Run, Band On The Run.And The Jailer Man and Sailor Sam were searching every one For the band on the run, Band on the run, Band on the run, Band on the run Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh Seeing no one else had come, And a bell was ringing in the village square for the rabbits on the run. Band On The Run, Band On The Run.And the Jailer Man and Sailor Sam Were searching every one For the band on the run, Band on the run, Band on the run, Band on the run Yeah the Band On The Run, Band On The Run,Band on the run, Band on the run . . .
Well, the night was falling as the desert world began to settle down.In The town they're searching for us every where, but we never will be found. Band On The Run, Band On The Run. And the county judge, who held a grudge Will search for evermore For the Band On The Run, Band on the run, Band On The Run, Band On The Run.
FYI . . . we play some of the best and brightest songs from the 70's and 80's . . . including stuff from: AC/DC, April Wine, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Deep Purple, ZZ Top. . . as well as a few suprises from Eddie Money, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Trooper. . . the list goes on and on and on . . .
I can't tell you how much Thin Lizzy (and particularly front man/vocalist/bassist Phil Lynott) has influenced my life. Since I was 13 years old and first heard the "Live and Dangerous" LP, I followed their career and, ultimately, Phil's tragic demise in 1985, put a nail in the coffin of one of the 70's and 80's best rock bands. Please follow the link above to read more. . .
Well, it turned out to be a hot, steamer of a night in Stirling. The rain held off, however, and there was a fair crowd that turned out. Looking forward to the 150 th anniversary next summer. Bigger stage, sound, and a full line up of other entertainment.
The Stirling Street Dance has been pulled ahead to Friday, Sep. 7 th due to the looming rain forecasted for Saturday. It's supposed to be a nice balmy summer night . . . the last for the year probably. Enjoy . . . I know I will!
Had a pretty good weekend at the roadhouse in Deseronto. At first it was looking like we did not have a sound system to use (we always use the house system when we play there), but Doug managed to scrape one together (lights too). Thanks.
Looking forward to the Stirling street dance . . . last of the summer out door shows. We always enjoy it and have been really successful in the past. I'm going to video it and put it on this page. Hope to see you there!
I just went to see a friend of mine play at "The black Bear" (the old "Queensway") . . . Mike has a deal where he opens up for his buddies "Greenstar" . . . Mike's band was good . . . a lot of Pearl Jam And ChiliPepper stuff . . . good band. And then Greenstar came on at about 10:30 pm. . . I gotta say that since the last time I saw them, they have improved dramatically . . . What a great band . . . . great vocals, great guitar player (Jeremy) and over-all stage presence is awsome. This is what we need in this area. I thought " Well . . . Maybe we're not the only band that can do this shit right! I must say that I was totally blown . . .
So, on our next gig (AUG. 31 AND SEP. 1 AT "GIT 'ER DONE" DESERONTO) I say let's put on a show and do what we do to the max! Let's rock it! Hope to see you there . . .
Just trying to make ourselves accessible to all. We're all about trying to be the best at what we do. To all those who enjoy great music, I say "Let There Be Rock". We'll post our upcoming show dates, new pictures, and live music from performances. Who knows what'll happen!
